The National MCOOL Coalition in early September launched a petition calling on the White House and Congress to restore mandatory country-of-origin labeling (MCOOL) for beef.
The petition follows President Donald Trump’s proclamation to increase the quota for lean beef trimmings by 300,000 metric tons.
“American consumers have a right to know where the beef they purchase is produced, and American ranchers deserve the opportunity to distinguish their high-quality U.S. beef from lower-cost imported beef,” the petition read.
The coalition is asking cattle producers and consumers to sign and share the petition to urge leaders to enforce beef labeling.
The coalition includes Farm Action Fund, Food & Water Watch, National Family Farm Coalition, Ranchers-Cattlemen Action Legal Fund, USA and others.
