The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is finalizing a process to streamline the authorization of seasonal migratory game bird hunting.
The agency said the process will reduce unnecessary federal rulemaking and provide greater predictability for states, Tribes and hunters.
Under the new process, USFWS will establish federal hunting season conditions through Migratory Game Bird Hunting memoranda rather than conducting annual federal rulemaking.
“This commonsense change allows us to spend less time on repetitive administrative processes and more time working with our state and Tribal partners to manage migratory game birds,” said USFWS Director Brian Nesvik.
The final rule and memorandum will publish in the Federal Register in time for hunting season, the agency said.
