USDA on Feb. 11 announced the launch of the Farmer and Rancher Freedom Framework, which intends to protect farmers and ranchers from politically motivated lawfare.
“When we protect our farmers and ranchers, we protect the very foundation of freedom and prosperity,” said USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins. “Together, we will ensure that no law, no regulation, and no agenda will ever stand in the way of America’s agricultural future.”
The framework is a four-pillar plan that includes: protect producers, preserve land and liberty, purge burdensome regulations and partner for agriculture’s future.
The department notes several “lawfare wins” to date, including dropping a criminal case against South Dakota ranching couple Heather and Charles Maude, who were facing individual felony charges of theft of government property from a fenceline dispute.
