The USDA is opening applications for fiscal year 2026 Patrick Leahy Farm to School Grants, investing up to $18 million to connect farmers with child nutrition programs through local food procurement, agricultural education and school gardens.

The department said new improvements streamline applications, reduce barriers to innovation and emphasize partnerships to help small family farms succeed. Eligible projects will expand the use of locally sourced foods, train producers on safety standards and integrate agricultural education.

State and local agencies, Tribes, child nutrition operators and producers may apply by Dec. 5 at tinyurl.com/2a3panrw.
