1.5M pounds of meat recalled for temperature

Kayem Foods Inc. of Chelsea, MA, is recalling approximately 1.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products because of improper storage temperatures, according to USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Products include franks, bacon, brisket and meatballs, among others. The recalled products were produced between March 31 and Oct. 7 and shipped to retail and foodservice locations nationwide and in Hong Kong. They bear USDA establishment numbers 7839, 20935A or 9520.

The recall followed an Oct. 1 customer complaint about products arriving at elevated temperatures. The company investigated and found that a warehouse cooler experienced temperature fluctuations while storing the products.

A complete list of recalled products is available at tinyurl.com/2s3t7vhx.
