BLM seeks feedback on bighorn sheep plan

USFWS/Mark Catalano

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is accepting feedback on a proposed project to improve habitat for the Whiskey Mountain Bighorn Sheep herd in western Wyoming.

The proposal involves removing encroaching conifers from about 225 acres near Dubois, WY, including portions within the Whiskey Mountain Wilderness Study Area.

“This action is necessary to restore vital winter habitat and open sightlines for the bighorn sheep, a herd that has seen a significant population decline,” BLM said.

Feedback may be submitted to joakleaf@blm.gov until Nov. 18. Proposal information may be viewed at tinyurl.com/2hn77z9z.
