BLM proposes opening four NV grazing allotments

Southern Mineral County, NV.

Samantha Szesciorka, BLM

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is proposing to issue a grazing permit for 10 years on four grazing allotments on BLM-managed lands in Mineral County, NV.

The project would create a new grazing permit to authorize cattle grazing on the Basalt, Belleville, Little Huntoon and McBride Flat allotments. The total estimated acreage for all the allotments combined is about 212,000 acres.

Actions include a two-year rotational grazing authorization, construction of range improvements and habitat improvement projects.

A Finding of No Significant Impact was signed Oct. 7; therefore, an Environmental Impact Statement was not required. Appeals protesting the proposed decision were accepted until Oct. 23.
