SUPERIOR LIVESTOCK AUCTION GULF COAST CLASSIC VIDEO AUCTION

Superior Livestock Auction hosted their Gulf Coast Classic Video Auction live April 16 and 17 from the Natchitoches Events Center in Natchitoches, LA. Cattle producers sold 57,077 head of calves, yearlings and bred stock totaling 498 lots from 23 states for this offering. Strong buyer participation from several bidders throughout the auction resulted in 131 different successful buyers. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through November 2026.

Recent rains and an increased demand for slaughter cattle created an upwardly trending market report despite various outside pressures. Regions 3/4/5/6 feeder steers and feeder heifers saw increased demand selling at $5-8 higher than the last test. Feeders from Regions 1/2 were only lightly tested but saw steady demand to $5 higher. Calves from the same regions were also only lightly tested but also remained steady. Calves from Louisiana and Florida were the highlight of the offering, bringing on average $100/cwt higher than last year. Beef-on-dairy crosses were well received at record prices. A robust bred stock section was met with strong buyer demand.
