Superior Livestock Auction’s Week in the Rockies

Superior Livestock Auction hosted their Week in the Rockies video auction live July 6-10 from the Steamboat Grand Hotel Ballroom in Steamboat Springs, CO. Cattle producers sold 223,767 head of calves, yearlings and bred stock, totaling 1,653 lots from 29 states for this offering. Strong buyer participation from several bidders throughout the auction resulted in 349 different successful buyers. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through April.

Superior Livestock’s Week in the Rockies is one of the largest tests of fall delivery calves. Demand remained strong all week despite the downward trend of the cattle futures. Regions 1/2 feeder steers and heifers were $30-50/cwt higher than the Week in the Rockies offering one year ago. Region 3/4/5/6 feeder steers and heifers were also $40-70/cwt higher than one year ago. The biggest advance was seen in feeder heifers, bringing $20-25 higher than the Corn Belt Classic offering, suggesting that tightened supply and replacement are playing into buyers’ intentions.

Calves from all regions were as much as $80-115/cwt higher when comparing to 2025 trending at 28% higher. The beef-dairy crosses followed the beef calves at $100/cwt higher than the offering one year ago. Bred stock was well received and in high demand as much of the country was receiving heavy rain.
