SUPERIOR LIVESTOCK AUCTION GULF COAST CLASSIC

Superior Livestock Auction hosted their Gulf Coast Classic video auction live April 16 and 17 from the Natchitoches Events Center in Natchitoches, LA. Cattle producers sold 46,923 head of calves, yearlings and bred stock, totaling 423 lots from 21 states for this offering.

Strong buyer participation from several bidders throughout the auction resulted in 127 different successful buyers. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through March 2026.

Region 3/4/5/6 feeder steers started the auction and were met with a very aggressive trend at fully steady on 850 pounds and lighter, and over 850 lbs. demanding advances of $5-7. Feeder heifers were also well received at fully steady prices with the last auction.

Region 1/2 were only lightly tested on a fully steady market with some advances in heavier weights. Region 1/2 weaned calves were also steady. Beef-dairy crosses were in strong demand reaching new highs on deferred deliveries $10-20 higher on all weights.

Region 5 weaned calves and calves on cows from Florida were well received at fully steady to $10 higher than recent auctions. Region 3 weaned calves and calves on cows from Louisiana saw a very strong buyer base with advances of $10-15 higher than the last auction. The bred stock section saw market highs and reinforced the optimism in the market.
