The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is moving forward with a proposed 400‑megawatt solar project near the Nevada/California border.

The agency issued its final environmental impact statement and resource management plan amendment for the Purple Sage Energy Center, which would cover 4,534 acres on public land in Clark County, NV. If approved, the solar-generation project would be one of the largest in the state.

Comments may be submitted on the plan documents by July 13 at tinyurl.com/yvbvtdbe.

We need diversified sources of energy. This project fits into that area of energy production. Coupled with Liquid metal battery storage and the installation of a new grid system for distribution. You have a 24-hour, 7 days a week consistent energy supply of clean energy. It's doable, so it should be funded and expedited. It would be cheap, abundant energy, which means everything we do requires energy and the economy would thrive. Most importantly, cheap power would solve our problem of desalination of seawater to provide abundant fresh water in a drought-prone West.
