The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) announced investments in wildfire recovery and forest products, including $9.2 million to help Utah recover from the Cottonwood Fire.

The fire burned more than 97,000 acres near Beaver before monsoon storms brought damaging floods. Utah will match the federal funding dollar for dollar, bringing the recovery investment to more than $18 million. The money will help stabilize burned areas, repair critical infrastructure and support communities and industries affected by the disaster.

Separately, USFS awarded $105.5 million for 177 wood innovation projects across 44 states. The grants are intended to expand wood manufacturing and energy infrastructure, support forest management, reduce wildfire risks and create or retain jobs in rural communities and forest products businesses.
