Zoetis launches BRD genetic selection tools

Working with the land and improving it is in a rancher’s DNA

Zoetis Inc. announced the launch of bovine respiratory disease (BRD) genetic predictions within INHERIT Select for commercial cow-calf producers and as an upgrade to INHERIT Connect for seedstock operations.

The release marks the first time producers can select replacement females and evaluate sires using genetic predictions tied directly to BRD health and survival. The BRD upgrade introduces three genomic EPDs: BRD Health (BRDH), which estimates the likelihood calves remain healthy after weaning; BRD Survival (BRDS), which predicts survival through backgrounding to harvest; and the $BRD economic index, which estimates revenue impact per calf.
