USDA expands Dairy Margin Coverage

USDA will be expanding the Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC) program for 2026, USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins announced at the American Farm Bureau Federation Convention.

USDA will also purchase up to $80 million in specialty crops for food banks and nutrition assistance programs. Dairy producers can enroll in the program until Feb. 26.  The One Big Beautiful Bill Act increased DMC Tier 1 coverage from 5 million pounds to 6 million lbs.

In addition, under Section 32 of the Agriculture Act of 1935, USDA will be purchasing up to $80 million of the following commodities: almonds, grape juice, pistachios and raisins.
