Washington and Oregon farmers and ranchers affected by drought and wildfires have several USDA disaster assistance programs available to help recover losses.
The Farm Service Agency’s Livestock Forage Disaster Program provides aid for eligible grazing losses caused by drought or fire, while the Livestock Indemnity Program helps offset livestock deaths, reduced-price sales and qualifying heat-related losses. The Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees, and Farm-Raised Fish Program also offers support for feed, grazing, livestock transportation and water hauling costs. Eligible producers may also qualify for low-interest emergency and operating loans, loan servicing options and Farm Storage Facility Loans.
Most 2026 disaster assistance applications are due by March 1, 2027. Additional USDA disaster assistance information can be found on farmers.gov.
