A King County Superior Court judge on Jan. 14 dismissed a lawsuit against the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) that prevented the agency from carrying out a lethal wolf removal operation.

In October, the agency authorized lethal removal of one wolf from the Sherman Pack in Ferry County after repeated livestock depredations. The agency was temporarily restrained from carrying out the action after environmental groups filed suit.

WDFW moved to dismiss the case, but the groups voluntarily requested dismissal, which the agency did not oppose.

The lethal removal authorization expired while awaiting a hearing. The agency noted that the last documented depredation from the pack took place on Oct. 23, 2025.
