The Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), owner of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), has indicated its plans to launch new cattle and hog futures contracts by the end of the year.
ICE is planning for a launch date of Dec. 7 for physically settled cattle futures and three cash-settled contracts for cattle and hog prices, according to a Bloomberg report. The products are expected to trade under the symbols “COW, “MOO” and “SOW.”
ICE said it has received significant interest from customers seeking other alternatives to what has historically been a singular choice for cattle trading, referring to the CME Group, which has offered its livestock complex since the 1960s.
