The Real Food Act, introduced by Nebraskan state Sen. Tanya Storer (R-43), would establish state-level dietary guidelines.
The bill defines “dietary guidelines” as a “flexible whole food framework tailored to individual and family needs, preferences and financial situations.”
The proposed guidelines would emphasize high-quality proteins and fats from whole foods like meats, seafoods, nuts and avocados. The guidelines would also promote full-fat dairy products and fiber-rich whole grains.
