The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) released an overview of gray wolf conservation and management activities for November, highlighting legislative funding and coordination efforts.
Notably, no wolf depredations on livestock were documented in November.
WDFW reported the legislature appropriated $390,000 for each fiscal year 2026 and 2027 to address wolf recovery and livestock conflicts, including $200,000 for a southeast Washington conflict mitigation pilot program. Lawmakers also directed WDFW to limit the use of contract range riders in northeast Washington and instead focus on coordinating with existing deterrence providers.
Additionally, WDFW and the Washington State Department of Agriculture were tasked with exploring a “Pay for Presence” concept, with a reporting deadline extended to June 30, 2026.
