The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) issued its Quarterly Wolf News Update, providing new insight into pack activity, depredation trends and field operations statewide.

The report outlines the status of all known packs, including active groups such as the Ashpan, Harvey, Ice Cave and Whaleback packs, as well as the now-inactive Beyem Seyo Pack, which accounted for the majority of confirmed and probable depredations during the period. These findings align with CDFW’s 2025 Wolf-Livestock Depredation Investigations report, which documents more than 300 investigations to date.

CDFW emphasized ongoing coordination with producers, federal agencies and county officials, noting that public sighting reports and rapid-response investigations remain essential tools as wolf presence expands across California.
