Brooke Rollins was sworn in as the USDA secretary on Feb. 13 following the Senate’s confirmation vote of 72 to 28.
“Every day, I will fight for American farmers, ranchers and the agriculture community,” Rollins said.
Rollins is from Glen Rose, TX, and graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in agricultural development and the University of Texas with her Juris Doctor. During President Donald Trump’s first administration she was the director of the Domestic Policy Council and assistant to the president for strategic initiatives. Most recently, she served as the president and CEO of the America First Policy Institute, a nonprofit think tank established to promote Trump’s public policy agenda.
Ag groups widely applauded Rollins’ confirmation, including the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, U.S. Cattlemen’s Association, R-CALF USA, U.S. Meat Export Federation and the American Farm Bureau Federation.
