Colorado State University (CSU) has opened a new 15,000-square-foot livestock hospital as part of expanding its veterinary education and animal care complex on the university’s South Campus.
Located next to the Johnson Family Equine Hospital, the facility brings large-animal services, pharmacy, anesthesia and support teams together in one location. The hospital includes surgery suites, isolation areas, flexible cattle and calf stalls, treatment spaces for small ruminants and camelids and laboratory facilities.
Animal welfare expert Temple Grandin helped design livestock handling features, including curved cattle chutes. CSU officials said the facility will strengthen veterinary training, improve collaboration among staff and better serve Colorado livestock producers.
