Beef Bits Brief: FSIS extends Salmonella comment period

USDA Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) has extended its deadline for a commenting period on proposed changes to Salmonella performance standards in ground beef and beef trimmings.

An industry association requested an extension of the commenting period, which will be extended by 30 days.

The new commenting period will end Jan. 27, 2020.

Comments may be submitted online at regulations.gov by searching for docket number FSIS-2018-0045 or by mail to Docket Clerk, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection Service, 1400 Independence Avenue SW, Mailstop 3758, Room 6065, Washington, D.C., 20250-3700.
