USDA Rural Development is making $410 million available through the new Powering Affordable Reliable Technology Program to support rural electricity generation and grid reliability.
Administered by the Rural Utilities Service, the PART Program will provide partially forgivable loans for projects generating electricity from hydropower, geothermal and biomass sources. Funding can also support energy storage systems used with intermittent renewable energy. Individual loans will range from $1 million to $100 million and are intended to help finance power generation and storage infrastructure serving rural communities.
The Rural Utilities Service began accepting letters of interest on Sept. 8. Applications for consideration under the program are due by Oct. 9.
