Story Short: New processing plant in MO

American Foods Group (AFG), a Wisconsin-based protein supplier to the retail and food service sector, announced it is building a beef processing facility in Warren County, MO, next year.

AFG, which has factories in seven other states, said the project would create more than 1,300 jobs and generate $1 billion in economic impact.

According to the Greater Warren County Economic Development Council, officials in the state began working with AFG in spring 2021 as the company evaluated locations in multiple states. The approval process is expected to be completed by spring 2022, with it being operational by the end of 2024.

“We appreciate their commitment to agriculture and their interest in Warren County,” said Missouri Department of Agriculture Director Chris Chinn. “This project would offer an important additional market for our producers and add value to Missouri farms and ranches. All sectors of agriculture will benefit from this important addition to our state.”
