Sen. Pete Ricketts (R-NE) recently released a nine-point plan intended to help rebuild the domestic cow herd.
“We’ll expand markets, strengthen competition, and protect family ranches. We’ll cut red tape and safeguard our cattle supply chain,” Ricketts said in an X post.
His plan focuses on opposing foreign beef imports, adding competition to meatpacking by backing more independent and rancher-owned plants, growing beef markets, requiring country-of-origin labels, passing the Death Tax Repeal Act, adding more disaster recovery tools, backing New World screwworm protections, passing the Securing American Agriculture Act, and investing in the next generation of agriculturalists.
