Pillen recognizes Sandhills fire fund

The Nebraska Sandhills Ranchers Fire Fund was recognized by Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen (R) as the honored nonprofit during an Oct. 3 Husker football tailgate at the Governor’s Mansion.

The event highlights a Nebraska nonprofit during each home game. The recognition comes as the fund continues helping ranchers recover from wildfires that swept through the Sandhills.

The fund received $1.8 million in cash donations and distributed $1.2 million directly to ranchers this summer. It has also helped deliver an estimated 1,500 to 2,000 semi-loads of hay and feed. Additional distributions are continuing as ranchers face ongoing recovery needs.

The fund plans to provide assistance through the end of the year and beyond. For more information, contact 308-778-6262.
