The University of California (UC), Davis Weill School of Veterinary Medicine received a record $261.4 million in donations during fiscal year 2025-26.
The school reported 8,024 contributions from 4,841 individuals, corporations and foundations, supporting veterinary research, student scholarships, public service and construction projects within its veterinary medical complex. The total included $120 million from Joan and Sanford I. Weill through the Weill Family Foundation and $75 million from Kathy Chiao and Ken Hao.
Both gifts will help fund construction of a new small animal hospital. The Weill donation will also support enrollment growth, research and clinical facilities, and the school was renamed in recognition of the couple. Chiao and Hao’s gift will support scholarships, research, veterinary care and access to care, with the new hospital carrying their names.
