The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has finalized its additional review of land-use plans for greater sage-grouse habitat in seven states, and has found no further planning or environmental analysis is needed.
BLM developed sage-grouse plans in 2019 to reflect the needs of communities and sagebrush habitat, and the determinations are not new planning decisions, the agency said. As they do not amend existing land-use plans, they are not subject to appeal or protest.
The U.S. District Court of Idaho placed a preliminary injunction on the plans in seven states, and BLM conducted the supplemental review process to lift the injunction.
Western Watersheds Project claimed the decision was unlikely to be implemented before President Donald Trump left office, as the 2015 Obama-era grouse plans remained in effect.
