JBS subsidiary Swift Beef Co. has issued a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice announcing the permanent closure of its Riverside, CA, case-ready production facility, effective Feb. 2, 2026.
According to Meat+Poultry, the closure will impact 374 employees. Nikki Richardson, a spokesperson for JBS, said the move is part of a broader strategy to optimize its value-added and case-ready business while simplifying operations across its national network. Production for existing customers will be shifted to other JBS facilities to maintain continuity of supply and service, with the transition expected to conclude by early next year.
The company said it will support affected workers through relocation assistance for those seeking positions elsewhere within JBS.
