Court blocks WY wild horse roundup 

The federal 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver blocked the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) from rounding up feral horses in Wyoming’s checkerboard lands.

On July 15, the court sent the case to the U.S. District Court in Wyoming, which now must consider the case after ruling in favor of the roundup, WyoFile reported. Following years of litigation, BLM had finally planned to start rounding up horses from the Salt Wells Creek and Great Divide Basin herds, along with the northwestern portion of the Adobe Town Herd, which lie within the state’s checkerboard lands. On these lands, private and public sections of land meet at common corners. Wild horse advocacy groups have argued rounding up the horses is illegal and eliminates them from their “rightful habitat.”
