Workers at a Greeley, CO, JBS beef plant returned to work on April 7 following an unfair labor practice strike that began March 16.
United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 7 President Kim Cordova notified JBS in an April 4 email that workers would plan to return to all regularly scheduled shifts effective April 7.
Cordova told local news outlet 9 News that new negotiation dates were set for April 9 and April 10. “Before we went on strike, we didn’t have any negotiation dates scheduled,” Cordova told the outlet. “Because of the power and the pressure from the strike, [they] finally did agree to come back to negotiations.”
JBS told 9 News in an emailed statement that its final offer of higher pay, a pension and benefits proposed weeks earlier remains unchanged. Union officials said the proposal does not go far enough.
