Input sought on CO canyon grazing

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.

NPS

The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking public input on grazing plans for the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and Curecanti National Recreation Area.

NPS currently administers grazing through use of NPS-issued special use permits and interagency agreements with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Forest Service.

The agency is seeking input on two alternatives for grazing management. The first alternative is to continue the current management under terms established between all the agencies and NPS will continue to administer permits.

The second alternative will allow NPS to manage grazing and consider what modifications may be appropriate to maintain or enhance park resources. Comments may be submitted until Sept. 20 at tinyurl.com/yjr85xuk.
