Danny Stanley, CEO of East Texas Packing, LLC, says he plans to open a plant in Tyler County, near Woodville, TX. In a media statement, Stanley said, “A lot of money has been invested into the newest equipment and processing methods to make this a clean, well-run operation that benefits the community with much needed well-paying jobs. He also said the business will process meat for distribution to a large meat market distribution facility in Houston known as Texas Quality Meats. Bids are currently being accepted for construction with plans to begin operations in the fall. Stanley said the plant will initially hire 65-100 employees. He added that in the next few years it is expected that as many as three shifts will require over 200 employees. The statement noted that cattle will be purchased locally and prepared on a daily basis for processing. Livestock will be kept in an enclosed facility with a carbon filtration system and no feeding or extended holding will occur at the property. WLJ attempted to reach Stanley to learn the production capacity of the plant, but as of press time had not received a response. — WLJ
