The gray wolf is still protected in western Oregon

USFWS

Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) announced that it lethally removed two wolves from a pack and authorized the removal of one wolf from another pack following repeated depredations.

WDFW Director Kelly Susewind approved the lethal removal of two wolves from the Onion Creek Pack and one adult wolf from the Couse Pack in response to wolves killing or injuring livestock in Stevens, Pend Oreille and Asotin counties.

In both cases, livestock producers implemented proactive deterrence measures, such as daily range riding and removing injured livestock, prior to the depredation events.
