Deere & Co. announced the company will be laying off more employees due to decreased demand for tractors.
The company plans to lay off about 375 employees in the Midwest’s Quad Cities area effective Jan. 3, 2025, adding to the nearly 2,000 workers already laid off this year.
“It is important to note these layoffs are due to reduced demand for the products produced at these facilities,” Deere & Co. said in a statement to local media outlet KWQC. “They are not related to production moves.”
The company continued that layoffs over the fiscal year are due to a weakening farm economy and a reduction in customer orders for equipment.
