Colorado launches digital hay directory

How much hay do I need to feed?

The Colorado Department of Agriculture has opened its 2026 Digital Hay Directory to help livestock producers locate forage supplies during ongoing drought conditions.

The online platform replaces the former printed directory with a searchable database, allowing hay sellers to update their inventories year-round. Buyers can filter listings by location, forage type, bale size, lab analysis availability, weed-free certification and organic status.

For the first time, the directory also accepts listings from out-of-state producers, expanding feed sourcing options across the region. The platform includes links to drought resources, climate monitoring tools and assistance programs.

Producers can add or update listings at any time through the department’s Markets Division website at ag.colorado.gov/markets.
