Cargill Protein confirmed with Meat+Poultry that it will pause operations for 10 days beginning Oct. 3 at its Fort Morgan, CO, beef plant to complete major refrigeration system maintenance.
A company spokesperson said they are collaborating with local producers and relocating production to other facilities to minimize disruptions. Employees will receive continued pay during the shutdown. The temporary downtime follows Cargill’s announcement of a $90 million investment in automation and new technology at the Fort Morgan site as part of its Factory of the Future modernization initiative.
