In just under three weeks, Brazil reached its tariff-free beef export quota to the U.S. for the year.
Any additional exports will be faced with a 26.4% tariff plus any additional tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. Brazil is limited to exporting 65,000 tons of beef under the “other countries” quota. Last year, Brazil reached its quota by late March and the year before by May. In 2024, Brazil exported $1.3 billion worth of beef to the U.S., up by more than 60% from the year prior.
USDA forecasted record beef exports for 2024 and 2025, with exports slowing down in 2025 due to a decrease in consumption.
