Beef Bits Brief: Sonoma County plant expansion

A Sonoma County, CA, meat processor is expanding operations to become a net-zero emissions meat processing facility.

Sonoma County Meat Company purchased a 30,000 square foot industrial building to grow their business of preparing meats to sell at their store, to wholesale customers and to online orders and subscription boxes.

“We see the potential at this facility is allowing us to maximize our efficiencies and have more sustainable processing capacity,” Jenine Rinn, Sonoma County Meat Company founder, said.

“It allows us to go further in decentralizing the meat industry and offering our services to local ranchers.” Solar panels will be installed, and there will be a move toward electric truck refrigeration units to achieve the net-zero goal.
