Beef Bits Brief: McDonald’s beef sales up

McDonald’s announced that since switching to fresh beef from frozen beef a year ago, Quarter Pounder sales have increased 30 percent.

The company has sold 40 million more of the Quarter Pounder burgers across the nation in this year’s first quarter compared to last year.

Marion Gross, McDonald’s senior vice president of supply chain management, said that customers have an increased interest in the transparency behind where the beef comes from and how it’s prepared.

Regarding the addition of plant-based products to their menu line-up, the company says they are watching consumer trends and interests, but do not have any plans at the moment to incorporate the products into their menu.
