Beef Bits Brief: Brazil plans to boost beef exports

According to industry group Abiec, Brazil’s beef exporters plan to increase exports by 6 percent in 2021 as they negotiate access to new markets in Asia and North America.

Abiec estimated that Brazil could export 2.141 million tons next year, worth $8.789 billion, up from a record 2.020 million tons this year. While China will continue to receive the majority of the country’s beef exports, Brazil is currently negotiating agreements to sell fresh beef to Japan, South Korea, Mexico and Canada.

Abiec said Brazilian companies could provide an estimated 260,000 tons per year to the four countries, representing potential revenues of $1.5 billion.
