The American Sheep Industry Association’s (ASI) annual letter supporting USDA’s Wildlife Services has gained the support of approximately 260 organizations, including trade groups for farmers, ranchers, pilots, conservationists and sportsmen.
The letter, sent to congressional appropriations leaders, highlights the agency’s role in protecting livestock, crops and human safety. The letter pointed out that wildlife causes over $12.8 billion in damage annually, impacting agriculture and infrastructure. Wildlife Services mitigates losses, assists livestock producers and manages threats like bird strikes and predator attacks.
The agency also plays a critical role in disease response, feral swine control and environmental protection. ASI said continued funding is essential for maintaining these efforts and supporting American agriculture.
