Angus bull sells for $900K in Montana

Basin Legacy 6201

A 9-month-old Angus bull, Basin Legacy 6201, sold for $900,000 during the Oct. 17 Basin Angus Ranch Sale at Billings Livestock Commission in Montana.

According to Cowboy State Daily, the bull was raised by Doug Stevenson, who said the price exceeded his expectations.

A group of 10 buyers purchased a 50% interest in the bull, with Stevenson retaining the remaining ownership. The bull will eventually enter an artificial insemination facility for semen collection. Stevenson credited the bull’s exceptional genetic profile and phenotype for attracting buyers.

The bull’s dam also brought $450,000, with Wyoming-based Stellpflug Cattle among the purchasers. Three daughters of the cow sold for $110,000, $60,000 and $25,000, respectively.
