The analysis and consulting firm Agri Stats agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging the company conspired with meat packers to suppress workers’ wages.
In a Jan. 8 motion filed in the the federal district court in Colorado, the company agreed to non-monetary cooperation terms and will change how it reports some labor-related data. Agri Stats did not admit any wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
Workers have now been awarded more than $200 million in the case, with Cargill expected to pay $29.75 million, National Beef $14.2 million, Hormel $13.5 million, Tyson $72.5 million and JBS $55 million. Fourteen settlements in total have been reached, with Smithfield Foods remaining the last defendant.
