On Aug. 23, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) authorized the lethal removal of one wolf from the Logan Valley Pack in Grant County following four depredations that injured four cattle and killed two calves.

Despite efforts by producers to reduce conflicts, including increased patrolling and moving cattle, lethal action was deemed necessary. On Aug. 24, ODFW removed a 63-pound juvenile wolf.

Lethal removal actions have paused as the department assesses the impacts of removal on future conflicts.
