USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced it has issued a public health alert regarding ground beef products potentially contaminated with E. coli.
Although no recall has been requested, as the products are no longer available for purchase, FSIS wishes to raise public awareness of the issue. Produced on March 28with a “Use/freeze by” date of April 22 and a packaging date of “032824,” the affected raw ground beef items bear establishment number “EST. 960A” and were distributed to food service institutions and retail locations across the country.
The list of products subject to the public health alert can be found at tinyurl.com/4df67rh9.
FSIS is concerned that certain products might be stored in consumers’ and food service institutions’ freezers. Consumers who have bought these items are advised against consuming them, while food service institutions are advised not to serve them. It’s recommended that these products be disposed of or returned to the store where they were purchased.
