Walmart opens case-ready facility in KS

Walmart has opened its first owned and operated case-ready beef facility in Olathe, KS.

This move is part of the company’s effort to build a more stable and transparent Angus beef supply chain. In 2022, Walmart invested in Sustainable Beef LLC in North Platte, NE, which sources cattle within a 250-mile radius of its plant.

The new 300,000-square-foot facility will package Angus beef from Sustainable Beef LLC and distribute it to Walmart stores across the Midwest. Walmart said the facility is expected to meet regional beef demand and create over 600 jobs in Olathe and surrounding areas. Walmart aims to improve supply chain efficiency while delivering packaged beef directly to its distribution centers for Midwest store locations.

So if they’re sourcing from a 250 mile radius will they be selling a TRUE PRODUCT OF THE USA? If they’ are I would find it hard to argue with.

I like the idea that Walmart is willing to devote such resources to marketing. This story indicates it will be only Angus. Does Walmart not care about other breeds of beef cattle producing meat, or have the been brainwashed that Angus is best?
