Tyson and Cargill have agreed to pay $87.5 million in a consumer class action lawsuit alleging beef price-fixing. Cargill is set to pay $32.5 million, and Tyson $55 million.
The lawsuit has been pending for six years and still requires judicial approval. Consumers who purchased beef chuck, loin, rib or round primal cuts from Cargill or Tyson between August 2014 and December 2019 could be eligible for compensation.
“The negotiations were contentious, hard-fought, and fully informed and lasted nearly five months,” court document read. “The longform settlement agreement was signed by both parties on Aug. 22, 2025.”
