The Trump administration announced a trade agreement-in-principle with the United Kingdom (UK), which includes market access for beef.
On May 8, President Donald Trump said from the White House that the deal will lower 25% tariffs on cars from the UK to 10% and eliminate 25% tariffs on steel. A fact sheet said the deal will create a $5 billion opportunity for new exports for U.S. farmers and ranchers. The UK government said the agreement will create new reciprocal market access on beef with UK farmers given a quota for 13,000 metric tons.
The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) announced their support for the agreement, saying the announcement follows years of NCBA’s hard work building a foundation for a trade deal with the UK.
